The region has a continental climate with very different temperatures because of the changing landscape. Valle d’Aosta is different from the rest of Italy, a semi - autonomic region with high mountain peaks and deep valleys. It is more related to France (specially to the Savoy area) than to Italy, and the inhabitants speak an old dialect that originally comes from France. Valle d’Aosta is famous for its alpine villages like Cervinia, Courmayeur and Gressoney, but also for the lakes, parks, wineyards and beautiful castles. The main city Aosta has many attractions from the roman times, for instance the theatre.
