  TOUR 2 (8days): Transylvania-The Apuseni Mountains-The Land of the Moti

- Day 1 - Arrival in the Bucharest Otopeni Airport, transfer to the Ibis Hotel or a similar one.

- Day 2 Bucharest - Brasov - 180 km.
After breakfast, the car and the travel documents are taken over. On the way to Brasov, one has to pass through Ploiesti and then the Prahova Valley, one of the most picturesque and most visited regions in Romania. The highway goes along the Prahova river for 52 km. between Campina and Predeal, by the Bucegi Mountains the peaks of which reach 2500 m. In Sinaia, the so-called "pearl of the Carpathians", you will visit the Sinaia Monastery and the Peles Castle (built by King Charles I in the style of the Hohenzollern Castle near Hechingen - Germany).
On the site of Brasov, the archeological sites certify the existence of Neolithic dwellings and much later those of the Dacians and the Romans. At the beginning of the XIII century, the German colonists were brought here to consolidate the eastern border of the Austrian - Hungarian Empire, the city receiving the name of Kronstadt.
You will also visit the reinforced fortress, the Weavers' Bastion, the Black Church (the XIV century - the biggest Gothic building in Romania), the St. Bartholomew Church. 15 km. away from Brasov there is the Bran Castle (also known as Dracula's Castle) that dates from the XIV century. In 1920 it became royal residence.

Day 3 Brasov - Targu Mures - 173 km.
On the way to Targu Mures, the first stop has to be in Sighisoara, a town founded by the Germans in 1146 (Schabburg), which has been admirably preserved. If you take a walk in the old town, you can admire the citadel with its clock and all sorts of craftsmen's workshops.
Targu Mures is an old city that has many historical monuments, of a population made up of Romanians, Hungarians, and Germans. The largest part of the historical buildings is in the Piata Trandafirilor (The Square of the Roses): the Roman - Catholic Church, the Orthodox Cathedral, the Ethnography Museum, the Apollo Palace, and the Culture Palace. In the near vicinity there are the Baroque buildings of the "Teleki House" and the Teleki - Bolyai Library, the depositary of a highly valuable documentary fund.

Day 4 Targu Mures - Oradea - 265 km.
Departure to Oradea through Cluj.
Cluj - one of the oldest and the most important cities in Romania, called Kolos-var by the Hungarians, and Kalusen-burg by the Germans, was made a "city" by the Emperor Adrian in 124 A.C., becoming the most important city in Transylvania, today known as a university city. Also visit the St. Michael Roman Catholic Cathedral, Transylvania's History Museum, Transylvania's Ethnography Museum, the Art Museum, and the native house of the Hungarian King, Mathias Corvin.
Oradea, an old city located on the bank of the Cris river, shelters quite a few cultural and historical sites. The Museum of the Cris River, situated in a Baroque palace, a copy of the Viennese palace, Belvedere, the Orthodox cathedral, the mines of the fortress and others.
In the immediate vicinity there are the 1 Mai and Baile Felix spas, well-reputed for their micro-climate and their thermal waters (28-34°C).

Day 5 Oradea - Sibiu - 320 km.
This day one shall visit the Apuseni Mountains, the Land of the Moti, with a typical landscape of lime mountains, caves and mild slopes covered in coniferous forests that descend to reach pastures. It is an area related to pastoral and forest activities that includes more than 300 villages and small towns that in the ancient days used to be gold mines exploited by the Dacians and the Romans. The inhabitants of the region, the Moti, have preserved ancestral traditions and also their popular costumes.
The route Oradea, Beius, Nucet, Abrud, Zlatna, Alba Iulia, Sibiu are as many places that are worth visiting:
- Cetatile Ponorului, a spectacular karstic region, with sub-terrestrial caves, that connect 14 lakes on an area of 36 km.2
- The Scarisoara Cave, situated at a 1200 m altitude, shelters a huge iceberg as old as the hills (approx. 50,000 m3 and quite a few natural ice-paved halls
- The Bears' Cave - name given to the paleontological remnants of "ursus spaecleus"
- Abrud - the oldest town in the Apuseni Mountains and the most important gold mine in the ancient times.
Alba Iulia is the symbol of the Romanians' unification (on December 1, 1918, the unification of Transylvania with Greater Romania). In the past, Alba Iulia was a fortress built by the Vauban model to protect itself against the Turks. Also visit the Roman Catholic Cathedral (the XIII century), the Re-unification Cathedral, the Batthynaeum Library (1719), famous for its valuable manuscripts and incunabula.

Day 6 Round trip Sibiu - Marginimea Sibiului - approx. 120 km
Day destined to a visit to Sibiu and Marginimea.
Sibiu, a mediaeval city of the XII century, changed by its Saxon inhabitants in Hermannstadt, is part of the fortified German cities "Siebenburgen". You will visit the Evangelic Church (that has a mural fresco dated 1445), as well as the Bruckental Museum, dated 1790, that shelters precious art collections.
"Marginimea Sibiului", region that includes several villages - Sibiel, Saliste, Rasinari, Cisnadie - is reputed for the beauty of its scenery and its folklore.

Day 7 Sibiu - Bucharest - 275 km.
Breakfast, departure to Bucharest through the splendid Olt Valley. At the exit from the valley, to visit the Cozia Monastery (the XIV century), then the Curtea de Arges Monastery and the Orthodox Cathedral - the place where many Romanian Kings used to be crowned. You will reach Bucharest through Ramnicu Valcea and Pitesti.
Sites: The Romanian Art Museum, located in the former Royal palace, the Museum of the Romanian Peasant, the Village and Popular Art Museum, the Parliament Palace (the world's second building, by size, 900 rooms.)
Accommodation at IBIS Hotel or similar one and the return of the car.

- Day 8 - Transfer from the hotel to the Otopeni Airport.
