The Romanian seaside resorts consist of 72km beach. The water is clean and has a relatively low salt percentage. (ca 17grams/l). Among the most important resorts in Romania you find: Mamaia, Eforie Nord, Costinesti, Olimp-Neptun, Jupiter, Saturn and Mangalia. These resorts offers you a great vacation with sun, bath, entertainment, sports or spa-treatments. The climate is continental with a average temperature of 25 C during the summer, and a swimming season that lasts from May until October. The coast of Romania is not only about the sun and the sea, but it also has a rich history. It was here the old greeks came around 400B.C, and founded several trading centres, and today some of them are well established cities and seaside resorts. This part of Romania is also famous under the name Dobrogea, and here you don’t just find romanians, but also turkish people, tartars, slavic people and greek.. This affects the local music, dancing and foodculture. Turkish cabbage rolls, greek moussaka or bors (slavic fish soup) are common dishes. On the sunny hills of Dobrogea both greeks and romans have grown grapes, and today the area is known for its wines, like Murfatlar. Constanta (during greek time known as Tomis) is the largest city of the coast, and has one of the largest harbours of the Black Sea.
