The highest peaks of the range rise above the Prahova valley and its cities. If you let your eyes wander up the mountains you get fascinated over the formations that have been created by weather and wind, amazing figures like the famous sfinx with its mysterious smile. Sinaia - The royal ski village of the Prahova valley, situated at a height of 1000m, and only 120km from Bucharest. This is where the romanian King Mihai had his charming winter residence, the castle Peles, that today is a popular museum. Sinaia has a pleasant climate, a beautiful nature and many interesting sights. The highest peak is situated at a height of over 2000m, and here you have the possibility of walking along one of the many tracks in the area, ans maybe reach one of the famous formations, for example the sfinx or a 48m high cross on the peak of the mountain Omul, 2507m. In the village you also find a health centre, sport halls, a bowling alley, swimming pools and other sport possibilities. This makes Sinaia a perfect place to go on sport camps. In Sinaia there are also bars, restaurants, night clubs, discotheques, casinos, movie theatres etc. Sinaia is also the perfect place to start daily excursions to : Bucharest, Busteni, Predeal, Brasov, Poiana Brasov, Bran (the Castle of Dracula) etc. Poiana Brasov - The most modern and exclusive alpine village in the Romanian Carpathians. Poiana Brasov is situated at a height of 1020 m, 13 km from Brasov, a very well known and appreciated tourist resort with ancestry from the medevial times. During the summer the climate is pleasant, perfect for a relaxing vacation. The highest peak is at 1800 m, and for visitors there is possible to use one of the two big cabin lifts, and many smaller ones. If you are intrested in sports there is a football- and athletics arena, a swimming pool, a sports hall, a bowling alley and much more. If you like the night life it is good to know that almost every hotel has its own restaurant, some of them with live music and discotheques. Poiana Brasov- suitable for nature and trekking, sport camps. Places to go: Brasov, Bran (the castle of Count Dracula), Sinaia, Sibiu. Busteni - 880 m, 8 km from Sinaia, at the foot of the Bucegi-massif, the Screaming water fall, the plateau in Bucegi. Predeal - 1000 m, 20km from Sinaia, at the rivers Prahova and Timis. Places to go: the monastery in Predeal, Pârâu Rece, Sinaia, Azuga, Busteni.
